Chennai terminal project delays cost Rs 200 cr for AAI

The delay in completion of terminals at the Chennai airport has caused an additional expenditure of Rs 200 crore to AAI.The authority has constructed international and domestic terminals at the airport. When the project was conceived in November 2008, its cost was Rs 1,808 crore. This has increased to Rs 2015 crore.

The new terminals now have a combined capacity of 1.33 lakh sq m. The handling capacity will increase to 16 mn domestic passengers and 7 mn international passengers from the present 6 mn (domestic) and 3 mn (international).
