The union defence ministry has agreed to provide 50 to 70 acre to the civil aviation ministry to build a new terminal building at the Agra airport. The ministry required land from the defence ministry because the airport is under the control of the latter and comprises one of the largest air bases for the Indian Air Force. The proposed terminal may enhance the passenger handling capacity of the airport and may benefit the large number of tourists who visit the city for its historical monuments.
