A GPS-aided Geo Augmented Navigation system (GAGAN) – a satellite-based facility to enhance safety and efficiency of aircraft operations – will be installed in all Indian airports by June 2013. A JV between AAI and Indian Space Research Organisation, the aim is to improve air traffic management, integration of MET data and aeronautical information. Once implemented, India will be the fourth country in the world to have such a system after the US, Japan, and Europe.
