The Gujarat Government has taken an ‘in principle’ decision to adopt the framework of 50:50 joint ownership SPV of Government of Gujarat and Government of India for developing metro rail projects. The Ministry of Railways has no direct role
in funding and implementing the project except for the approval of technical aspects like schedule of dimensions, track structure etc. Presently, metro rail projects in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai and Kochi are under execution.
