JNPT plans container terminal
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust is planning to be a Rs 6,700 crore container terminal in Mumbai. It will have a capacity to handle 4 mn tonne standard containers a year. The port is currently operating above its designed capacity of 3.6 mn standard containers. The port trust runs one of the three existing facilities; the other two are run separately by DP World and a joint venture between APM Terminals Management BV and Container Corp of India Ltd.
