The Lucknow metro-rail project, to be completed in three years, was announced almost a year ago during the budget session but got in-principle approval from Government of India only in December 2014. Arranging for the projects´ funding took a long time. In the first phase, North South (N-S) metro corridor from Amausi Airport to Charbagh (approx 23 km) is to be constructed, out of which, the stretch from the airport to Alambagh will be taken up on priority. The depot for N-S corridor is to be built on 52.87 acre of PAC campus, which has been transferred by the government to Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation on February 28, 2014 for free of cost.
