MMRDA delays launch of monorail stretch

Citing issues relating to construction, design and the rehabilitation of project-affected people, MMRDA has reportedly delayed the launch of the first stretch (Phase-I) of the Mumbai monorail projectto August 2013. The first stretch of the Phase-I consists of a 9 km line between the Chembur and Wadala areas near Bombay Harbour, at a cost of Rs 2,900 crore. This is the third time that the actual launch of operations has been deferred.
