Metro’s airport link nears scompletion

The construction of Metro’s Airport Express Line (AEL) is nearly 95 per cent complete and DMRC is preparing to hand over the civil structures to the concessionaire for fitting of systems and finishing.

The Airport Express Line, which will open in September next year, is a PPP model between DMRC and joint venture partners Reliance Energy and Spanish firm CAS.

The AEL, which is modelled on the Heathrow Express in London and the Hong Kong Metro airport link, will have only six stops. For air travellers, airline and baggage check-in counters will be provided at the NDLS, Shivaji terminus and Dhaula Kuan metro stations. The trains will move at a speed of 135 kmph and will have state-of-the-art facilities for the passengers.
