Seeking cheaper electricity, promoters of four metro rail projects approached electricity regulators and state governments, arguing that rising cost of power will make these projects unviable. The companies developing these metro projects in Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad affirm that regulators and state governments need to ensure lower power tarrifs on the lines of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to maintain cost-effectiveness of their projects.
