The proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) will be operational from 2019 with the Centre giving all the necessary nods to speed up the project. Reports suggest that the airport will be built on public-private partnership (PPP) basis on land spanning 1,160 hectare, of which 592 hectare had been acquired. There will be two parallel runways for simultaneous and independent operations with a provision for full-length taxiways on either side of the runways.
