The Pantnagar airport, which has reopened after a three-year gap, still requires expansion of its runway for smooth take-off and landings. The requisite length of the runway was proposed at 2,050 m considering bigger aircrafts to land in future. The existing runway length stands at 1,172 m, its width has already been expanded to 45 m and does not require further expansion. While the tender for the expansion work is still pending, clearance for the proposal is expected to come in soon.
