Tripura and Bangladesh will be connected through railways, the railway line for which will be laid soon. Work has already begun on the 45-km-long rail stretch joining Agartala and Akhaura, a sub-district of Chittagong in Bangladesh. The Indian part of the project is being funded by the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) at an estimated cost of Rs 5.8 bn. The Ministry of External Affairs is financing the Bangladesh arm of the rail link.
