JSW Steel, post its merger with JSW Ispat, got catapulted to the position of one of the leading steel producers in India (combined steel making capacity of 14.3 mtpa). In terms of capacity-wise break-up, out of 14.3 MT, 10 mtpa is in Vijayanagar, Karnataka (8.4 mtpa through blast furnace (BF) route with balance 1.6 mtpa through the Corex route), 3.3 mtpa in Dolvi, Maharashtra (erstwhile Ispat Industries) and 1 mtpa in Salem, Tamil Nadu. The JSW Steel Vijayanagar plant is the first integrated steel plant to reach a capacity of 10 mtpa in a single location. It is the first in India to use the Corex technology for hot metal production.

The company also has a notable presence in the value-added products category, thereby having a large and diversified customer base with enhanced profitability. Value-added products increased from 24 per cent to 33 per cent during FY15. The company´s consolidated top-line increased by 5.5 per cent to Rs 53,205.9 crore during FY15 as compared to FY14. PAT reported was Rs 1,719.7 crore compared to the profit of Rs 387.97 crore.
