The final draught of the Shimla Development Plan, which includes new guidelines for the number of floors, habitable attic and garage in a structure, was approved by the Himachal Pradesh cabinet on Monday. The draught plan given by the urban development department was approved by the cabinet at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
After the meeting, Industries Minister Harsvardhan Chauhan gave a press briefing and noted that there are different guidelines for different regions. He said that one level with attic would be permitted in green areas and two floors and attic in key districts.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT), which has prohibited development in green and core regions, must approve the plan's implementation before it can be carried out.
The cabinet also resolved that going forward, the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission will administer the exams for the positions that the former Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission, Hamirpur, could no longer administer due to a scandal over a paper leak.
