PM Gati Shakti to help in developing modern infra in India: Modi

01 Mar 2022

Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the media that the PM Gati Shakti initiative would help develop modern infrastructure in India through better coordination and monitoring.

He also invited the private sector to collaborate with the Government and boost investments.

Last year, Prime Minister Gati Shakti - National Master Plan (NMP) was released to break down departmental silos and promote more holistic and integrated project planning and execution to solve multi-modal and last-mile connectivity concerns.

While addressing the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) stakeholders' meeting on PM Gati Shakti, Modi said this would also help in getting down the logistics expense.

He informed that the Government has raised investments in many sectors, along with highways, optical fibre connectivity and renewable energy, and is committed to a balanced development of the north-eastern region.

The PM said this initiative would also increase exports and make the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) globally competitive.

In October 2021, the Government announced the PM Gati Shakti programme under which a portal would be established to bring 16 Ministries together for combined planning and execution of infrastructure connectivity projects.
