Aaditya Thackeray, Maharashtra's Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, unveiled an electric vehicle charging station set up by the BMC in a public parking lot in the Dadar area, Mumbai.
According to a press release from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the station, which can charge up to seven electric vehicles at once, is the first of its kind in the state. Thackeray directed the civic body to install more EV charging stations at various parking lots under its jurisdiction.
Smart charging stations should be prioritised in regions with a large number of electric cars. A comprehensive survey should be done in this respect, and charging stations should be made available in an increasing number of parking lots, he added.
As per the press, three slow chargers can fully charge a vehicle in six hours. It stated that a fee of Rs 15 per unit will be charged for charging vehicles.
