Bengaluru's much-awaited Byappanahalli-KR Puram Metro segment is all set to open on July 15, 2023. The 2-km stretch will connect the Byappanahalli terminal of the Purple Line to the KR Puram station of the Green Line, providing a much-needed connectivity between the two lines and helping to decongest the traffic on the Outer Ring Road.

The missing link will connect the Kengeri-Byappanahalli corridor (25.7 km) to the recently built Whitefield-KR Puram Metro segment (13.7 km). Passengers will no longer need to rely on feeder buses between Byappanahalli and KR Pura.

The completion of the 2km extension is expected to greatly increase the Bengaluru Metro's daily ridership. The Byappanahalli-KR Pura portion will benefit techies travelling to and from the Whitefield/ITPB tech corridor in particular.

The Byappanahalli-KR Pura Metro segment is part of the Phase 2 expansion of Namma Metro. The total cost of the project is Rs 1,000 crore. The segment has six stations, including Byappanahalli, Hoodi, Mahadevapura, KR Puram, and KR Puram Bus Stand. The stations have been designed to be aesthetically pleasing and have been equipped with all the latest amenities.

The opening of the Byappanahalli-KR Pura Metro segment is expected to benefit a large number of commuters. It will provide a faster and more convenient way to travel between the two areas. The segment is also expected to boost the economic development of the region.

The Byappanahalli-KR Pura Metro segment is a major milestone in the development of Namma Metro. It is a testament to the commitment of the government to provide a world-class public transportation system to the city. The opening of this segment is sure to make a positive impact on the lives of millions of people in Bengaluru.
