Khoibu Chiefs Association and Khoibu Centre Area Village Chiefs have criticised the lack of blacktop on the 38.10 km stretch of road in the Tengnoupal district that runs from BRTF Road to M Ringpam. They have called on the State Government and the relevant authorities to fix the road, which was built under PMGSY, within a week.

After inspecting the road, Saka Ami told members of the media that contractor Mingyao Ruivanao and subcontractor Yaiphaba from Uripok had started working on the 38.10 km stretch of road.He urged the State Government to intervene and renovate the road as soon as possible, claiming that only 1.5 km of the road have been blacktopped to this point.

He also voiced his displeasure and inquired as to why the State Government had not followed up on the road construction. During medical emergencies, he informed the public of the inconveniences caused by crumbling culverts in the vicinity. In addition, Saka Ami urged the local MLA, Letpao Haokip, to expeditiously resolve the issue and improve the road stretch. She also warned that over 5,000 people from the villages nearby would stage widespread protests if their request was ignored.

It should be mentioned that the stretch of road is said to be a lifeline for 33 villages in the area around Khoibu Centre, which is in the Machi Block of the Tengnoupal district. The project, which received funding from the Indian government's Ministry of Rural Development, was expected to be finished by February 2021,
