Inspection of 50 Gurugram properties for building violations

01 Sep 2023

The department of town and country planning (DTCP) officials stated that approximately 50 residential properties located in upscale licensed colonies were inspected by them to verify illegal constructions that had taken place after the acquisition of occupation certificates.

It was noted that these residential properties, primarily situated in DLF areas, Sushant Lok, and South City, had been granted occupation certificates by architects operating under the self-certification scheme. According to the field staff of the department, the property owners had conducted unauthorised constructions within the buildings subsequent to the issuance of these OCs.

Upon receiving this information, the enforcement team from DTCP visited these properties and discovered various unauthorised constructions, such as those within setback areas, alterations to cutouts, violations of zoning plans, and construction within the stilt area.

Manish Yadav, District town planner (enforcement), stated that show cause notices will soon be issued to the owners of these properties. If they fail to provide satisfactory explanations, actions including sealing, demolition, and the filing of FIRs will be initiated against both property owners and architects.
