With an aim of utilising the facilities of the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) to their full potential, Kanpur Smart City Limited has sought help from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) by approaching the director to share some expert inputs for making the existing facilities, even more, user friendly, effective, and productive.

IIT Kanpur Director, Abhay Karandikar and the divisional commissioner Raj Shekhar, chairman of Kanpur Smart City Limited paid a visit to the ICCC.They were accompanied by Nagar Ayukt, Smart city's additional CEO, and Tech Mahindra Team officers in their visit.

The team glimpsed all the features of ICCC while interacting with the officers and staff.

Regarding their integrated traffic management system, the IIT Kanpur director asked that the individual crossings need to be reviewed to solve the issues and problems. He further asked to check automatic signal timings in major crossings. He said that these need to be sensor-based and capable of changing the traffic lights timings according to the density assessment in an area. This report should be prepared in the upcoming 15 days.

IIT Kanpur has assured to study the environmental monitoring sensor (EMS) system thoroughly and develop a mechanism for capturing real-time and reliable data.

IIT Kanpur will be debuting an expert team from their concerned department, to study this system and make visits to the field. They will then suggest the improvement accordingly.
