Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced that the Meghalaya Cabinet has abandoned two power projects due to their lack of financial viability. The hydro power projects in question are Kynshi Stage I and Upper Khri Stage I & II.

Sangma explained that the decision to terminate these projects stemmed from financial difficulties and delays encountered by various companies in their implementation. He stated, "The cabinet decided to discontinue these projects for these reasons."

However, the chief minister also emphasised that the state government and the relevant department will promptly seek new partners, possibly in a revised format, to continue the projects.

Additionally, the cabinet granted approval for the establishment of an engineering wing within the police headquarters in Shillong.
