According to a senior official, the Odisha government has approved 11 projects totaling Rs 2,841 crore in investment. The projects, which will be built in the districts of Bolangir, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh, are expected to employ 3,721 people.
According to Chief Secretary PK Jena, the approval was granted at the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) meeting on Monday. Nine of the 11 projects were proposed by companies that attended the Make in Odisha conclave in December of last year. According to another official, the projects range from aluminium to steel, chemicals, plastics, food processing and packaging, textiles and apparel, tourism, and renewable energy. Among the approved projects is a Rs 896.98 crore steel plant for RCR Steel Works in Jamda, Mayurbhanj district. It is anticipated that 750 people will be employed. The committee also approved the proposal to expand Utkal Alumina International in Rayagada district and Hindalco Industries in Sambalpur's Lapanga district. These projects are expected to generate nearly Rs 1,000 crore in investment and 500 jobs. The SLSWCA also approved Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India's project proposal to build a resort on Somolo Island of Chilika Lake in Ganjam district for Rs 228.45 crore. The committee approved the establishment of an Ion Exchange (India) project, a manufacturing unit in Paradip with an investment of Rs 303 crore. It will generate employment for 150 people. The Indian Stitches Private Limited will set up a fabric processing plant at Rs 100 crore. The project is expected to generate employment for 1,000 people. Also Read
