Cement prices to decline due to oversupply and monsoon

Cement prices would soften by 7-10 per cent in June. The fall will be supported by over-supply and lower demand. Prices are expected to come down to around 235 per 50 kg bag from the current average of Rs 255 a bag. Retail prices will fall to Rs 230 in the key region of Mumbai, while Delhi will command a price of Rs 210 after June. By December a total of 60 mn tonne of new cement capacity will be added taking the total capacity to 300 mn tonne.
