Nuvoco to buy Emami Cement business for about Rs.55-60 bn

Nirma Group’s cement division Nuvoco Vistas has reportedly emerged as the frontrunner to acquire Emami Group’s 9 mtpa cement business for an enterprise value of about Rs.55-60 bn. Other bidders in the race for Emami Cement included top cement manufacturers such as UltraTech, Star Cement and Ambuja Cement. Prior to this, the Nirma Group acquired Lafarge Holcim’s India assets for about Rs90 bn in July 2016. The group currently has a capacity of 11 mtpa and is trying to consolidate its industry position.
