UltraTech plans for Rs 5,000 cr capacity expansion

After adding about 20 mn tonne over the past four years, UltraTech Cement has taken up the next round of capacity addition which is estimated to cost Rs 5,000 crore. The company has placed orders for two 3.3 mn tonne kilns with KHD Humboldt Wedag of Germany as a part of its plan to add 9.4 mn tonne capacity by 2012-13. These orders are for the expansion of its Rawan plant in Chhattisgarh and Rajashree unit in Karnataka.

The company also plans to add 25 mn tonne over the next five years to maintain its market share.
