Birla Corp is looking to increase its 15.5 mn tonne (mt) capacity to 21 mn tonne over the next two years. Currently the firm is present in the Central, North and East regions, the new capacity will come up in Maharashtra in the West. This new capacity is expected to come on stream by September of 2021. The expansion will happen in two phases. In the first phase it will increase capacity to 20.5 million tonne. After the second phase of expansion, by 2025 it will take capacity to 25 mn tonne. All this capital expenditure would be funded by internal accruals and debt.
