Drop in cement prices in the East and South India
01 Jan 2022
Cement prices on a pan-India basis fell by roughly 3 per cent in November compared to the previous month. Owing to unseasonal monsoons in several parts of India, sales have taken a hit as demand for cement has slowed down. Due to festivals, construction prohibition in the north, sand mining challenges in the east, heavy rains in South India, limited labour availability led to a decrease in demand. As a result, investors predict that low demand might further bring down previously hiked prices.
