SCG International and BigBloc Construction enter a JV

SCG International, a subsidiary of Thailand-based Siam Cement Group and BigBloc Construction has entered into a joint venture for manufacturing their patented product –ALC Panels in Gujarat. The JV in which BigBloc holds 52 per cent stake will jointly invest around $100 million, with the first tranche of $10 million. 

SCG group has a presence in 30 plus countries, while the Gujarat-based BigBloc Construction currently operates manufacturing units in Kapadvanj, near Ahmedabad. The new manufacturing unit for ALC panels, which are a replacement of bricks and blocks, has a capacity of 3 lakh cubic meter 

per annum.
