Wonder Cement has installed ABB's ACS880-based Slip Power Recovery System (SPRS) solution at its manufacturing plant in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, to save energy. As the manufacturing procedure of cement is complex, firms mostly opt for big slip ring induction motors to get high starting torque and meet procedure needs. The plant has three production lines, with an 8 mtpa producing clinker capacity. The traditional process uses external rotor resistors and leads to heavy power loss in the form of resistive heat dissipation. ABB's ACS880 plays an essential role in controlling the speed ring motor's speed and helps in accomplishing substantial energy savings.
