Established in 1960, Elgi Equipment is considered to be Asia´s largest manufacturer of air compressors and automobile service station equipment. With its head office is located in Coimbatore, Elgi Equipment produces a wide range of products including automotive equipment, diesel engines, centrifugal compressors and rotary compressors. The products are used across various segments, namely, chemicals, railways, textiles, electronics and paper, among others. In five decades, the company has expanded into various products and markets, with two manufacturing units in Coimbatore. It recently signed a partnership with engineering solutions provider Voltas Ltd for selling Elgi air compressors and accessories to the Indian textile sector. With revenue of Rs 1,341.83 crore, Elgi Equipment registered a growth of 17.6 per cent in 2013-14. However, its profit dipped to Rs 45.54 crore from Rs 60.19 crore in the previous year.
