Odisha set for India's largest floating solar power project

India's premier hydropower company NTPC has agreed to form a Joint Venture (JV) with the Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha (GEDCOL) to develop 500-MW floating solar power projects on different water bodies in the state. The JV will make an initial investment of around 20 billion to put up 300 MW floating solar plants, which would generate 600 million units (mu) per annum.The agreement was signed on January 4, 2022, by AK Singh, CMD of NHPC, and Bishnupada Sethi, Chairman, Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) & CMD, GEDCOL, in the presence of Dibya Shankar Mishra, Minister of State (Energy), Government of Odisha.
