Toshiba Corp has won an order from Essar Power Gujarat Ltd, to supply two sets of thermal power generation equipment for a coal-fired plant project in Gujarat. The order calls for supplying two 660-MW supercritical steam turbines and generators to Essar Power Gujarat Ltd, a subsidiary of Essar Power Ltd, one of India’s biggest independent power producer. Shipments from Japan will start in mid-2012 and the first unit is expected to start commercial operations in 2013.
