New Cat 657 Scraper offers bigger cab, more fuel efficiency

01 Feb 2021

The Cat 657 scraper offers a 7 per cent increase in fuel efficiency and a 21 per cent increase in the cab interior over its predecessor 657G. The largest open bowl scraper in Cat’s line, the 657 has a rated load of 52 tonne (46.4 metric tonne) and is designed for high volume earthmoving, highway construction and mining applications. The machine offers several features, including an on-board Payload Estimator, an Auto-Stall feature, and Ground Speed Control. The Cat 657 is powered by a Cat C18 engine in the tractor and a Cat C15 engine in the scraper. Engine power and torque is enhanced by the engines’ Advanced Productivity Electronic Control System, resulting in more material moved throughout the shift.
