Rapid growth in the construction sector is creating enormous potential for manufacturers of construction machinery in India. Sales of earthmoving equipment have increased by 17 per cent and those of construction vehicles and mining equipment by almost 53 per cent over the past few years. To tap this growing potential, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers along with Messe Muenchen International will organise bC India 2011, a new trade show focusing on the machinery industry for the construction, building material and mining sectors in the Indian subcontinent and neighbouring countries. "The fact that Bauma will be coming to India for the first time for a trade show shows the rising importance of India as an important market for construction machines," says Michael Schmid-Lindenmayer, Managing Director, Putzmeister Concrete Machines Pvt Ltd. The event will bring together global market leaders and industry representatives who will showcase their innovative products and technologies under a single roof.

Trade hub

The leading international trade hub in India, Mumbai offers several advantages to bC India's exhibitors and visitors. Considered the centre of the construction industry, this city is the ideal spot for solidifying customer and prospect relationships. In addition, its central location provides easy access to domestic and international visitors. The exhibition venue Bandra-Kurla Complex is strategically located in the centre of central and western Mumbai. It features temporary halls specially configured to meet the needs of bC India's exhibitors. Additional advantages include easy access to the international and domestic airports and luxury-class hotels within a short distance.

The 80,000 sq m exhibition area is divided over an outdoor area of 65,000 sq m and a hall area of 15,000 sq m. Over 420 exhibitors from more than 28 countries are likely to participate in the exhibition; of which over 65 per cent will be international and the remaining 35 per cent Indian. For the first time, the show will have nine international pavilions from Australia, China, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain and the UK, underlining the global character of the show.

Array of products

bC India 2011 will offer the most extensive range of products and services that will provide its visitors with an overview of the market in India.

All around construction sites: Construction vehicles, machines, lifting appliances and conveyors, handling and processing concrete and mortar at construction sites, formwork and scaffoldings, site installations.

Mining, extraction and processing of raw materials: Machines for extraction of raw materials and mining, handling of raw materials, mineral processing (including coke oven equipment).

Production of building materials: Manufacture of cement, lime and gypsum compounds for building materials; machines and systems for producing concrete, concrete products and prefabricated components; machines and plants for producing asphalt, premixed dry mortar, plaster, screed and building supply store products, lime sandstone and building products using power plant residue (fly ash, slag, etc); machines and systems for producing gypsum and gypsum plasterboard and building material handling and packaging (in a plant).

Component and service suppliers: Transmission engineering, fluid technology and power generation units, accessories and wear parts, services, test, measurement and process control engineering and communication and navigation.

The visitors

bC India 2011 expects 20,000 visitors from all over India and neighbouring countries. The visitors will mainly comprise construction enterprises, contractors, construction machinery manufacturers, construction machinery trade and service providers, construction machinery leasing companies, building materials industry, mine owners, mining companies, architects' offices, engineering companies, ministries, associations, universities, and people engaged in R&D.

Conferences and seminars

In its three-day schedule, bC India 2011 will also host a number of conferences and seminars. Primary among them will be the Buyers' Conference that will be held at Hotel Trident by the Builders' Association of India. Similarly; a seminar on safety will be held in the conference room of bC India's indoor area by the Construction Federation of India; and a conference on infrastructure projects will be held at the Golconda Hall of Hotel Trident by the Indian Earthmoving & Construction Industry Association Ltd.

The event is organised jointly by bC Expo India Pvt Ltd; AEM – Association of Equipment Manufacturers; and MMI – Messe Muenchen International, together with the Builders' Association of India (BAI).
