Gurgaon – Basai ROB and bridge on Hero Honda chowk ready for better connectivity

01 Jun 2017

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) recently inaugurated a bridge (culvert) over Badshapur drain near Hero Honda Chowk on Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, meanwhile Huda allowed traffic on trial over Basai railway-over-bridge (RoB) on Dwarka expressway , which was inaugurated on June 17 by Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana.

The RoB, located at the junction of sectors 100 and 37D at Basai village, will fill a crucial connectivity gap on the 18-km-long Dwarka expressway. Together, these new headways are expected to boost connectivity of new sectors (81-115) being developed along Dwarka expressway, by minimising the travel time which will be of great help in refining the economy.

“Minor bridge near Hero Honda Chowk was opened to traffic on June 13, two days ahead of schedule,” reportedly said Ashok Sharma, Project Director, NHAI, adding it has already eased congestion near the important junction.

Congestion at Hero Honda Chowk, which creates great chaos is more likely to reduce further by June end, when NHAI opens the second carriageway of the NH-8 flyover to traffic. “More than 80 per cent of the work on the flyover is already complete. It's expected to be finished by June 30,” Sharma reportedly added.

This will truncate travel time of residents living in new sectors, as they will get rid of regular jams between Hero Honda Chowk and Kherki Daula. “Hero Honda Chowk is a major choke point due to traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. The bridge will be convenient for commuters, as it will ease congestion and save time,” said Arvind Shah, a resident of DLF Gardencity.

The channel will also ensure frictionless flow of rainwater from one side of the expressway to the other, reducing chances of waterlogging during monsoons. Work on the channel started after Gurujam of 2016, when heavy downpour led to waterlogging on the expressway, causing a 20- hour-long traffic pile-up.

Anupam Varshney, Head-Sales and Marketing of developer Vatika, said they are hoping the government will ensure early completion of Dwarka e-way. “The RoB will strengthen connectivity. Residents living in this part, starting from Vatika India Next and Vatika Express City to Sector 115, will benefit,” he said.
