In 2013, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be taking up three Road Under Bridges (RUBs) and one Road Over Bridge (RoB) crossing over the railway tracks in different parts of the city. The projects costing about Rs 75 crore are already in different stages of progress. The RUB at the revised site of Uttamnagar instead of Safilguda will be constructed at a cost of Rs30 crore.
The Railways had given its consent to close the Safilguda gate. But, the railways has put a rider stating that in future if there is a demand for another RUB at Safilguda, the municipal corporation should take it up and also bear the entire cost. The Kandikal ROB is to be built at a cost of Rs.25 crore .
The work is slated to be completed in a year. The proposed Uppuguda ROB has been changed to RUB as per the topography and it is estimated to cost Rs.10 crore. The railways permission is awaited for approving the drawings for constructing a four lane RUB at Tukaram Gate.
All these works are to be taken up under Greater Hyderabad Development Plan (GHDP) launched last year. The project will cost Rs.800 crore. Three major flyovers on the planning board are Tolichowki flyover (Rs 50 crore), Ameerpet flyover (Rs 75 crore) and Balanagar-Narsapur junction flyover (Rs 90 crore). Under GHDP, several key link roads are also proposed to be taken up this year such as the Hi-Tec City railway station to Borabanda road, Dargah to OU Colony (Serlingampally), Moosapet lake to railway line via IDL. Road widening will be taken up at Saidabad, Barkas, Bazar Ghat, Moghulkanala to Puranapool, Rehmathnagar, Kavadiguda, Radhika Theatre to Old Municipal Office, Kothapet Crossroads to Nagole Crossroads, Botanical Gardens to old Bombay, Volga Hotel to Chandulal Baradari, Shad Café to Puranapool, Lalapet to Tarnaka, Shantinagar-Lalapet, Bank Colony to L. B. Nagar, Gandhibnagar-Jagadgirigutta road & Gajularamaram to Kukatpally.
These works are in various stages such as preparation of road development plans, structural valuations land acquisition proceedings, senior officials added.
