Mumbai Metro to be commissioned this year

Mumbai likely to have its Metro rail service by this year end, said the project executing company Reliance Infrastructure on August 27. The company added that it is waiting for requisite approvals. The firm is planning expansion of the metro line. Once it started, the Mumbai Metro rail can accommodate seven lakh passengers a day.

When expanded the Metro can serve ten lakh passengers, the company said. The company is contemplating the Metro's expansion even before the commissioning of the service in Mumbai.
