DEDICATED ACHIEVER

India recently welcomed its deepest metro station! Under the strong leadership of Satya Narayan Kunwar, Deputy General Manager of Afcons Infrastructure and Project Manager of the Kolkata Metro project, the country’s deepest metro station at Howrah has been structurally completed in a record time of 17 months. The base slab of the Howrah Metro station, 30 m below platforms 14 and 17 of the rail station, were recently cast – a landmark for the East-West Metro project. Constructing the multi-level metro hub below an active railway yard would indeed be a challenge, but Kunwar guided his team zealously on the construction of
this 16-km metro. The striking feature of this metro station is that it is aligned with the tunnels that run from East to West at a depth of 26 m below the Hoogly riverbed. We congratulate the team on this important milestone.
