Sukhbir Singh Sandhu has been selected to head the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) as its new Chairman.
A 1988-batch IAS officer of Uttarakhand cadre, Sandhu has been selected to lead the agency at a time when the country is focusing all resources to achieve its US$ 5 trillion economy target – reiterating the importance of road infrastructure development towards the cause. Prior to his appointment, he was the Additional Secretary in the Department of Higher Education, which is part of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Sandhu has also held important positions in the Central Government and the Government of Uttarakhand, the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Government of Punjab. Going forward, we are hope Sandhu will reaffirm the NHAI’s position in managing and delivering projects on time at a financially stable pace.
