Looks like blue skies ahead for the Airport Authority of India (AAI) with RK Srivastava as its next Chairman. The selection of the 1984-batch Jharkhand cadre IAS officer comes on the heels of the Narendra Modi Government´s initiative to kick-start recruitment to fill higher-level vacancies at Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

Srivastava emerged the favourite for the post following an interview of 10 senior officials on September 25, 2014. Having said that, as reported, Srivastava will step down from his current post as Principal Secretary,Planning and Development and Managing Director,Greater Ranchi Development Authority. The post of chairman had been lying vacant after the superannuation of AAI´s former boss BP Agrawal. At present, Sudhir Raheja, Member (Planning), AAI, is the acting chairman of the apex airport body. Now, of course, Srivastava is cleared for takeoff!
