NVS Reddy, Managing Director, Hyderabad Metro Rail, is all smiles with the recent commissioning of the much-awaited Hyderabad Metro project. The 30-km-long Phase-I of the project between Miyapur and Nagole has 24 stations. Notably, Hyderabad Metro is touted to be among the world's most innovative along with being the biggest metro rail project in the country taken up in the PPP mode. Indeed, a matter of pride for Reddy - considering that the Bangkok Metro was also conceived in the PPP mode, but is only 32-km long compared to the 72-km Hyderabad Metro. The metro project has been divided into three corridors; all three corridors are expected to become operational by December 2018. Being developed by construction major L&T, the concessionaire, the project has faced a number of hurdles but managed to get over them. While many had doubted whether the Hyderabad Metro project - in PPP mode - would ever take off, it's time Reddy has a successful ride.
