India recently welcomed its historic landmark! Under the leadership of its CEO & Managing Director SN Subrahmanyan, L&T has completed the Medigadda Barrage, the starting point of the Rs.801.90 billion Kaleshwaram irrigation project, in a record 24 months. Indeed, the completion of this project by L&T is a first-of-its-kind in the Indian construction industry. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao recently inaugurated the Kaleshwaram irrigation project, which on completion, is expected to solve the issue of supplying water across Telangana to farmers for irrigation. The iconic Medigadda Barrage has been designed to bring drinking water and irrigation to the parched areas of Telangana, a total of about 225 thousand million cu ft of water will be drawn through it from the Godavari river basin. The completion of this project by L&T, under the leadership of Subrahmanyan, has set several records in terms of sheer use of voluminous materials such as concrete and steel in record time in a challenging operating environment. In the words of Subrahmanyan: “We are extremely proud that we have been able to deliver a project of this magnitude and complexity to international quality and safety standards." And so is CW!
