Nitin Gadkari, has been entrusted with the portfolios of Road Transport and Highways along with Shipping as a Cabinet Minister. Before this government came into power, the Ministry of Shipping had decided to shift focus from capacity augmentation projects to port infrastructure and connectivity projects.

For this, it plans to add about 259 million tonne of capacity this year. Now, all eyes will be on Gadkari to spearhead the pending work. He had served as the Minister of PWD in Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999.
