CESC setting up 600 MW power project in Haldia

CESC plans to invest Rs 3,000 crore in setting up 600 MW thermal power projects at Haldia in West Bengal. The project is scheduled for completion by March 2014 and will comprise two units of 300 MW each. The company has finalised the bids for boiler turbine generator (BTG) and balance of plant (BOP) for the project. While BTG was awarded to Shanghai Electric, BOP was contracted to Punj Lloyd. BOP includes cooling towers, chimney, ash and coal handling systems, air-cooled heat condensers and others while BTG is part of the main plant package.
