CIL allots 17 mt coal under a special e-auction scheme

Coal India (CIL) allotted a 72.1 per cent higher quantity of coal at 17.34 mt to the power sector under the special forward e-auction scheme during the April-September term. The state-owned firm had allotted 10.07 mt of coal under the scheme in the year-ago period, as per the government data. But, no coal was allotted under the scheme for the power sector in September. Coal distribution via forward e-auction is targeted at rendering access to coal for consumers who want to have an ensured supply over a long time via e-auction mode to prepare their operations.
