SJVN plans an investment of Rs.350 bn over the next five years to add 3,000-4,000 MW of generation capacity. The company currently has an installed capacity of 2,016 MW from its five power plants in Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. SJVN won’t seek fresh equity funding from the Union government or the government of Himachal Pradesh, its major shareholders, but meet the expenditure from its internal accruals and loans from banks and other financial institutions. SJVN is implementing two hydropower projects in Bhutan, a 1,320 MW thermal power project in Bihar, and three hydropower projects in Himachal Pradesh.
