Centre urges formation of state water grid to help control floods, end drought

01 Nov 2020

The Centre has requested the Maharashtra Government to take the initiative for preparation of DPR for forming a state water grid to control the recurring floods in the state. This would help the government to ensure availability of the water in drought-prone areas and save resources to manage floods. The project should follow the lines of the National Power Grid and Highway Grid. The idea is to divert the flood water from one river basin to another in drought-prone areas of the state.
