India’s steel consumption to cross 100 mn tonne

As per the Indian Steel Association, India’s steel consumption is poised to cross the 100 mn tonne mark in 2019. Its consumption growth is tipped to be driven by an expected 7.1 per cent growth in domestic steel demand in CY2019 and is likely to grow marginally in CY2020 by 7.2 per cent. Investment driven sectors such as construction, capital goods and railways are likely to maintain healthy growth momentum driven by infrastructure projects, according to the body.
