EV policy to be rolled out in Chandigarh

01 Oct 2022

Banwarilal Purohit, the UT Administrator, recently approved the Electric Vehicle Policy, 2022, which aims to make Chandigarh a "Model EV City" by achieving zero emission vehicles (ZEV) among all Indian cities by the end of the five-year policy period. The policy has gone into effect immediately. In order to gradually phase out ICE-powered two- and three-wheelers, the administration will ensure the registration of at least 35 per cent electric two-wheelers (e-2W) and electric three-wheelers (e-3W) in 2022-23, 70 per cent in 2023-24, and 100 per cent in 2024-25.
