Gadkari announces new projects worth Rs.70 billion

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced new projects worth Rs.70 billion for Uttar Pradesh; adding that by 2024, the road infrastructure of the state will be at par with that of the US. Gadkari reportedly stated that a total of Rs.5 trillion will be invested in roads in the state before 2024. The funds include the Shahabad-Hardoi bypass of Rs.12.12 billion, Shahjahanpur to Shahabad bypass of Rs.9.5 billion, Moradabad to Kashipur National Highway worth Rs.20.07 billion, and 13 railway over bridges of Rs.10 billion, among others. Gadkari stressed that attention must also be paid to the environment, and appealed the use of CNG, ethanol, methanol and electric vehicles, which will make fares cheaper.
